2. If the other relatives want to have a service for your mother, they can throw it/help out. Or, they can wait.
3. If John is over the age of 18, he can figure out his own shit. If that means that he eventually can't, and he drinks himself to death, that's not your fault. Al-Anon would help immensely with this, I believe. (I may be a bit sensitive about this; apologies if this comes off as offensive.)
